Things to do in the Yosemite - Mono Lake - Mammoth Lakes areas:
 
Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park. Among the many outstanding attractions are Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, and the Awahnee Hotel. Best views are from Valley View (across from Bridalveil Falls on the road out of the valley) and Tunnel View at the entrance to Wawona Tunnel. (209) 372-0200 Yosemite National Park.
 
El Capitan, Yosemite National Park. Rock climbers throughout the world come to make multi-day ascents of this huge, sheer granite cliff.

Half Dome, Yosemite National Park. The most recognized feature in the park, Half Dome is the symbol of Yosemite. A trail from Happy Isles climbs nearly 5000' to the summit in 8.8 miles. A handrail near the top assists climbers on the steep (45%) incline.

Glacier Point, Yosemite National Park. Outstanding views over Yosemite's mountainous landscape into Yosemite Valley.

Hetch Hetchy Reservoir
, Yosemite National Park. Trail across dam leads to Wapama, little-known but spectacular waterfall. Five bridges are needed to span it.

Mariposa Grove Giant Sequoias, Yosemite National Park. Near park's southern entrance, the largest of Yosemite's three groves of the world's largest trees.

Olmstead Point, Yosemite National Park, on Tioga Rd, 2 miles west of Tenaya Lake. Outstanding vista point with a view over clouds Rest and Half Dome.

Tenaya Lake, Yosemite National Park, on Tioga Rd, between Olmstead Point and Tuolumne Meadows. Beautiful 150 acre lake overlooked by Polly Dome.

Tunnel View, at the entrance to Wawona Tunnel, Yosemite National Park. Famous view point; nearly the entire valley is visible.

Tuolumne Grove Giant Sequoias, Yosemite National Park. One-way road through a dense forest with 25 giant sequoias.

Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park. Enormous meadow bordered by the Tuolumne River and by granite peaks. 4.5 mile trail leads to Tuolumne Falls.

Yosemite Falls, Yosemite National Park. One of the best known  waterfalls. A half mile flat trail leads to base of Lower Fall. Columbia Rock, on 1.25 mile trail with 1200' climb, offers spectacular views of Upper, Middle and Lower Yosemite Falls.

Mist Trail
, Yosemite National Park. Take shuttle bus to Happy Isles. Very popular hike to major waterfalls. One mile to Vernal Fall Bridge; 1.5 miles to the top of Vernal Falls; 2.5 miles to the top of Nevada Falls.

Panorama Trail, Yosemite National Park. Day-long hike from Glacier Point to the Valley. Great views along the way; last portion is the Mist Trail.

Four Mile Trail, Yosemite National Park. Steep climb from Yosemite Valley to Glacier Point is more than four miles. Dramatic views of Yosemite's landmarks.

Mono Lake. Ancient lake presents an unusual landscape with tufa towers; best tufa formations along the south shore. Excellent birdwatching.

Ansel Adams Wilderness
, southeast of Yosemite National Park. Premier scenic area accessed from June Lakes and Mammoth Lakes areas.

Emigrant Wilderness, northwest of Yosemite National Park. Very scenic area with more than 100 lakes, accessed via trailheads east of Pinecrest Lake.

Yosemite -Mammoth Area Skiing
        
June Mountain         
    
June Mountain has a variety of terrain for every level of skier as well as eight lifts, and a snowboard terrain park and halfpipe. Ski and snowboarding lessons. Child care is available for newborns to six years of age. Cross country trails.

Badger Pass        
     
The ski resort is located at 8,000 feet above sea level. There are nine runs with five chair lifts.  Open between mid-December and early April. Fifty-percent of the ski hill is designated for intermediate skiers. Ski School classes.

Highest Elevation - 2,438 m/8,000 ft
Vertical Rise - 244 m/800 ft
Runs    9: 35% Novice, 50% Intermediate, 15% Advance/Expert with alpine skiing, cross country, terrain park.

Mammoth Mountain         
 
Mammoth Mountain has three terrain parks and plenty of snow for winter sports.
